North/St. Johns

North Portland encompasses several fun and hip neighborhoods including Overlook, St Johns and  Kenton and is where the University of Portland is located. There are many cafes, bistros, markets and parks throughout North Portland.

The thriving Mississippi Avenue is a big draw for Portland residents with locally owned businesses, restaurants, cafes’, shops, boutiques and street fairs. There are many parks as well, including the dramatic Cathedral Park at the foot of the St Johns Bridge which is a popular spot for celebrations and weddings.

Homes in North Portland range in architectural styles from the late 1880’s to recent infill with a few grand mansions, and more modest cottages and bungalow dwellings. North Portland was a major hub of ship building and during World War II.
